Loud vs. Soft
Fourth Grade Compositions
This week in music is going by fast! We are busy working on our music compositions. Students are learning how to read music notes and there note values. This week we are writing a 16 measure composition using whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes and rests. The students are also playing their composition on the keyboards!

Welcome back!
I am so excited about my second year at CFG! I cannot wait to share my love of music with my students this year! I have so many ideas to make this year's programs a success and I know students will enjoy every minute! Performance programs begin in the 1st grade through 4th grade for ALL students in those grade levels.
Our first week of music class will be spent getting into a routine and making sure students understand expectations. This will make our year run smoothly! We will be following the school wide PBIS matrix. Students will be held accountable in the music room just like they would in their home room class.
We will also start by singing together and getting to know each other through songs and music games. Music is a time where students should feel comfortable and support one another. I believe that students should learn in a safe environment where they feel like they can share if they need to. I do not force solo performances on any of my students, although they may sing in groups based on rows, boy groups, girl groups, etc.
Many parents and students have been asking about 2014-2015 Cub Singers. Cub Singers is an auditioned group for 3rd and 4th grade students. Students who have shown interest should be coming home with a packet informing of all you need to know about the performance group (tentative schedule, expectations, attendance policy, permission form to audition, audition rubric, etc). The audition rubric has a couple questions for your student to answer and return, along with the permission form. I will fill out the rest of the rubric during your child's audition. Please feel free to ask me any questions. tiffany.hill@spartanburg2.k12.sc.us
